Once there was a king, who was just and kind. He decided to build a palace on the banks of a river. The king’s men went to the riverbank to see the palace site. They came back to the king and said, “There is a hut on the riverbank and an old woman lives in it.” The king went to the old woman the next day and said, “I want to build a palace here. I’m ready to buy your hut for any price that you want.” The old woman said, “This hut is precious to me. It’s the only memory of my husband. I have lived here for many years and I want to die in it. This hut and its memories are worth more than all the gold of this world.” The king decided to build his palace next to the hut as an example of his kindness.
