Once, a palmist was very famous. People queued up to have their palms examined. But they did not realise that the palmist was not an expert. He just made guesses that turned out right. Sometimes, he knew about his clients by making enquiries about them. One day, in the middle of one such session, a boy came running and said to him, “Sir! Someone broke into your house and stole all the valuables. Come fast!” The palmist did not lose a moment and ran towards his home. As he was running, a person commented, “He should not be running so fast. Surely, he knew this was going to happen.” “How on earth could he have known that?” asked another person. “Well, because he is a famous palmist. He foretells everyone else’s fortune, so should he not have foreseen his own?” replied the first person.
