The Pigeon and the Glass

On a summer afternoon, a Pigeon was flying in the sky. She had gone to many places that day. Now she was thirsty. But there was no water to be seen.
The sun-rays were falling directly in the Pigeon’s eyes and she could not see anything on the ground. Her throat was dry and she could not think right from wrong. The heat was making her weak.
At a distance, she saw a board. The board had a big image of a glass with water on it. It was a sign board with pictures of food and drink. But the Pigeon could see only the water. She did not realise at all that the water was not real.
Once she fixed her eyes on the water, she opened her wings wide and dived towards the board. She flapped her wings as fast as she could and reached very close to the board.
She was dreaming of feeling the cold water go down her throat. The pigeon was flying at a high speed. At that speed, she banged her head against the board. A kind man passing near by heard the loud noise and ran out of help the pigeon. He saw it lying on the roadside.

The Pigeon was severely hurt. She broke all her wings and lay lifeless on the ground. The kind man picked the Pigeon up and splashed some water on her head. Then he gave her some water to drink and kept her in shade till she recovered from her fall.
The Pigeon realised that she should be careful and take care of herself.
