The potter has its own importance in the society. He shapes many kinds of earthen wares. Among these, the most commonly used earthen ware is a pitcher. Most of the earthen wares made by the potter are used in the villages. It is interesting to see a potter at work. He uses the clay of a special type for making wares. He makes the clay flexible by kneading it. Then he puts the day on a wheel. He spins the wheel and with the help of his hands and fingers, he gives the desired shape to the clay. He turns, folds and manipulates the wheel in such a manner as to achieve the desired shape of the pot. After the pots are made, these are placed in fire then polished and given finishing. It is very interesting to watch a potter on his wheel.
