In the old city of Karam, lived a man who was eight hundred years old. In his younger days, he used to gamble by the day and steal at night. One day, he robbed the king and ran away with loads of wealth. On the way, he met a gang of thieves who were about to run away with his loot. He managed to get away from them, but then a loud roaring voice asked him, “How do you have so much wealth?” The man told the voice the whole story, honestly. The voice then asked him to take all the wealth and live an honest life for speaking the truth. When people saw so much wealth with the man, they took him to the king. The king, on hearing the whole story, said, “You can keep all the money, for you have spoken the truth.” That day, the man engraved the words, ‘One who speaks the truth is always at peace,’ on the doorway of his mansion.
