Edward was a famous painter. Once, Edward found his neighbour Jack in his studio, touching one of his new paintings. He was annoyed, and sent him away. Another day, he found that some of his canvases had been moved slightly. He decided to find out what was going on. That night, he hid in his studio. At midnight, Jack crept into the studio. He went to one of the canvases and after an hour, left. The next day, Edward called the police inspector. Together, they examined the canvas Jack had touched. Certain parts of the painting seemed lumpy. Edward scraped the paint carefully and found a small stone hidden in the paint! He cleaned it and gasped. It was a diamond! The inspector explained, “Jack is hiding stolen diamonds in your paintings. After a few months, he would remove them and sell them without any fear!” Jack was soon arrested. Edward could finally paint in peace again!
