One night, a strange ticking sound woke Bella up. Looking out of her window, she saw her neighbour, Mrs. Durmont, in her living room. She was stuffing expensive looking watches into puppets. Bella was suspicious, as there had recently been a robbery in a watch store. Soon, Mrs. Durmont turned off the light and went to her bedroom. She thought, ‘Could she be hiding stolen goods? But I need proof before I can accuse her.’ A tall tree grew between the two houses. Bella used the tree to climb into Mrs. Durmont’s open window. But where were the puppets? As she searched, she heard a noise outside the door. Mrs. Durmont was coming back! She ran back to the window. Just then, she saw an open drawer full of stolen stuff. She grabbed it and dashed back home, using the tree. The next morning, she showed the police the stolen goods and told them her suspicion. They searched Mrs. Durmont’s house, and found all the stolen watches!
