Once, an old couple lived in a cottage near a forest. The old man was kind and gentle, but his wife was unkind and greedy. One day, the old man found a wounded rabbit in the forest. He brought it home and cared for it. Soon, the rabbit was well again. One day, the old man went to the forest. The old woman looked at the rabbit and thought, ‘What a wonderful meal the rabbit will make!’ But as soon as she caught hold of the rabbit, it leaped out of her hand and ran into the forest. The old man returned and was sad to find his rabbit missing. He set out to look for it. The rabbit was actually a wizard. As he heard the old man calling out for him, he appeared before the old man and gave him gifts for his generosity and love. Then, he punished the old woman by giving her bunny ears. The old woman asked for forgiveness and was never unkind to anyone.
