Once, a farmer purchased two healthy oxen from a fair and ploughed his field. At noon, he left the oxen loose for grazing and slept for a while. A thief saw the pair of oxen and decided to steal them. As he was taking them, the farmer got up. He caught the thief and shouted, “How dare you steal my oxen?” But the thief lied, “These are my oxen.” They started arguing. Finally, the farmer took the thief to the village chief. But the village chief couldn’t give a verdict. So, the village physician was called in. He asked the thief and the farmer, “What food did you give to the oxen?” The thief replied, “Rice and vegetables.” The farmer replied, “Only grass.” Thereafter, the physician gave a solution to the oxen to cause vomiting. The oxen vomited only grass. This was enough to prove the farmer’s claim. The happy farmer got his oxen back.
