The Rooster and the Cats

Once upon a time, a Rooster lived in a farmyard with many other animals. One day, he found a toy carriage. As he always wished to travel the world, the Rooster was excited and jumped with joy. He announced, “I am going to travel across the world on this carriage. Everyone is going to respect me and bow to me!”
But in his excitement to travel the world, he forgot that the carriage had to be pulled by someone. On the very day that he chose to leave, he could not find anyone on the farmyard who agreed to pull his carriage. “Oh, what a pity! How will I ride on this wonderful carriage now?” exclaimed the Rooster.
Just then, a couple of cats passing by heard him. They offered to take him around in his carriage. “We can take your carriage wherever you want. We are strong and know all the places!” the cats said.

The Rooster was excited to hear this and decided to leave for his journey on the carriage the next morning. A hen from his farmyard expressed her concern and warned him, “Dear Rooster. Fowls can never be friends with cats. You must stay back in the farmyard. Here you are safe!”
The Rooster ignored the advice given by the hen and continued on his journey. On reaching a thick forest, the carriage stopped with a jolt. The Rooster ordered the cats to explain this halt. “Why have you stopped here?” he told. But the cats didn’t say anything.
The Rooster understood that the cats did not intend well. He remembered what the hen had warned him about. Now sitting in his carriage, alone and far away from the farmyard and all his friends, the Rooster shrieked with fright. He knew he would not leave from here alive. He remembered all his friends, family and neighbours and bade them goodbye.

The cats ate him up to their fill, and joyfully went back to their homes. They left the beautiful carriage behind in the deep forest.
