Doordarshi told King Jewel Plume the story of an arrogant mouse to illustrate his point of view. Long ago in a forest, there lived a sage named Mahatapas. One day, as he was meditating, a mouse, fleeing from a cat, jumped into his lap. Mahatapas gave it shelter and fed it grains. Soon, it grew fat and contended. When the cat attacked the mouse, the sage transformed the mouse into a cat. So, the mouse was not frightened of it because now it was also a cat! Some days later, a dog attacked the cat. When the dog attacked it, the sage changed it into a dog so that it might defend itself. The mouse, who was now a dog, was very happy in his new shape. The sage allowed it to remain a dog.
