“How will he rule our kingdom?” wondered the king, “How will he lead or fight a battle?” Prince George was very scared of many things–horses and heights, swords and loud sounds and people quarrelling! All the ministers thought about it and came up with different ideas, but nothing seemed to work. One day, however, something strange happened. Prince George brought a ragged little boy, called Kit, into the palace. He had seen him, crying and hungry, on the street. He fed Kit and gave him clean clothes. Then he arranged a room for him to sleep. The groom of the stables had no children, and said that he would take care of the boy. Prince George taught Kit how to ride, and how to use the sword and the bow and arrow. And while he was helping him, Prince George himself became strong and fearless! The king was satisfied finally.
