The second calendar begins with his story, “Madam, I had become as popular as an intelligent prince that the Sultan of Indies invited me. I set out with presents with the ambassador. On the way we were attacked by robbers and I escaped.
After wandering for months I reached a country which was ruled by the arch enemy of my father. I became a woodcutter for more than one year and found a beautiful palace where a damsel was seen. She said that I was the only man she had seen in 25 years.
She said she was the daughter of the King of Ebony Isle. As the King wanted her to marry her cousin, she left the palace and ever since for 25 years had been visited by the genius. I implored her to travel with me to the real world. However, she requested to stay there without the knowledge of the genius who visited her on every 10th day.
The genius, however, found out about us and decided to punish us. I begged him to hear the story of the two neighbours, one with envy and other with forgiveness.
