One day, a Fox was roaming in the jungle. It was a hot summer’s day. The Fox was extremely thirsty but could not find any water.
After some time, he saw a well. The Fox peeped inside the well and found water. But he realised the water level was too low for him. So, he kept his foot on the edge of the well and bent down to drink water.
The stone on the edge of the well started to move and the Fox fell right into the well. He wondered, ‘How can I get out of this well?’
After some time, a Goat glanced inside the well. The Goat saw the Fox and asked, “Dear Fox, how are you? And what are you doing inside the well?”
The clever Fox made up a story, “I wanted to enjoy the cold water in the well. It is too hot outside. And the water here is cold. Why don’t you join me?” It was a summer’s afternoon. So, the Goat thought he should also get inside the well to get relief from the heat.
So, the Goat also jumped into the well and enjoyed the cold water. He drank to his heart’s content. Now, it was time to go but the Goat was unable to get out. The Fox recommended, “Why don’t I keep my foot on your shoulder and try to climb up. Once I get out, I will pull you out.”
The Goat agreed and the Fox did as he said. Once the Fox got out of the well, he ran way. The Goat called out to him but the Fox was away.
