Once, a beggar used to get leftover food from a rich man’s house. The beggar had three children and one dog. One day, a servant of the rich man observed the beggar. The servant saw that the beggar eagerly waited for the kitchen maid to give him food. Once he got the food, he first ate some himself. Then, he gave some to his three children. At last, he gave the leftover food to his dog. The servant thought, “I am like this dog. I wait for my master, the rich man, to give me food. And just like this dog, I get very little to eat. My master is so rich. Yet, he never helps his poor servants who need money. I only wish people would understand that it is next to godliness to help poor people and animals.”
