Harriet was a pretty girl but short. She had no friends because she was shy. The children in her class would tease her and call her names. One day, she was crying sitting in a corner. When the teacher asked the reason, she replied, “Nobody wants to be friends with me.” Her teacher asked, “Why is that so?” “Because I look different. I am short!” cried Harriet. “You are a smart girl, but you are shy. You have shared so many wonderful experiences with me about your skiing and mountaineering holidays. Why don’t you share those incidents with your classmates too? I’m sure that will help them know you better. They won’t tease you anymore.” Harriet listened to her teacher and stopped being so shy. She began telling her classmates about the adventures she had while on holiday. All the children thought she was an amazing girl. Before long, the whole class was friends with her.
