The Silver Bell

The-Silver-Bell

Once upon a time, there was a peaceful little village. In that village lived a shepherd. He had some lovely sheep. Every day, the shepherd used to take his sheep for grazing. He had bought bells for each of them. He tied a bell to each of the sheep so that he might know where they were grazing. The best sheep had a silver bell tied around her neck. One day, a stranger came to the village. He saw the sheep grazing. Seeing the silver bell around the sheep’s neck, he went to the shepherd and asked, “Will you sell the bell to me?” Out of greed, the shepherd agreed and sold the bell. But from then on, he did not know where his best sheep was grazing. The stranger took advantage of this. One day, he stole the sheep. Thus, the shepherd lost his best sheep just because of his greed.
Moral: Never be greedy.
