Matthew and Mary played together in winters. They made snow houses and snowmen. One day, Matthew and Mary looked at their snowman admiringly. They could almost hear him breathing. They wished the snowman could talk to them. “Would you like to play with me?” the snowman said suddenly. Matthew and Mary almost dropped their jaws in astonishment. They couldn’t believe what they just heard. “Yippee,” chorused the children. The children spent the whole day playing and sharing stories with the snowman. At night, the snowman guarded the house. The next day, the children woke up to find sunlight streaming into their room. “It’s a nice warm day. We can stay out longer,” cried Mary. But when they ran out, the snowman was gone! The children were quite disappointed. There was just a puddle of water, and a note which said: “I will be back next year, Your Snowman.”
