Milly and her family were spending the summer holidays on the island of Majorca. One day, there was a great storm. The next morning, Milly woke very early and saw that the storm had died down. She decided to take a walk. Milly saw a strange dark shape on the beach. At first she thought it might be a sea lion or whale, but when she came closer, she was surprised. It looked like the wreck of a huge ship! She immediately ran home and woke her father, who was an archaeologist. He was very excited and told Milly, “This is no ordinary ship, my dear. It is a Spanish Galleon! It must be at least five hundred years old. Last night’s storm probably brought it up from the sea bed.” Sure enough, it was a great discovery, and Milly became well known as the girl who found the Spanish Galleon!
