It was a stormy night. A dove and a bat were flying here and there to take shelter in a place. They asked an owl for shelter. The owl who lived in a hollow tree, unwillingly let the two animals enter his house. The owl did not like to share his food with anyone. The bat was very clever. He knew that if he praised the owl’s wisdom, courage and generosity, the owl would be happy and he would get a good share of the food in return. So the bat flattered the owl and the owl was very pleased. He said, “Here my dear friend, help yourself to more food.” But the dove did not believe in flattering and remained silent. The owl on the other hand loved flattery and was angry at the dove for keeping quiet. The owl asked the dove to get out of his house. The dove thanked him for giving him shelter and quietly flew away to his family. Meanwhile the storm was also almost over.
