Once upon a time, there were three brothers who loved the same girl. The girl could not decide who was the best. One day, the father of the three brothers asked each one of them to buy the most useful thing and bring it back home. The three brothers travelled a lot. After many days, the first young man bought a magic carpet. On that carpet, he could fly to any place. The second brother bought a looking-glass that was magical. Through that glass, he could see anyone and everything. The third brother bought a magic lemon with whose juice he could make a dying man or a woman come alive again. One day, they decided to see the girl through the looking-glass as they were far away from her. When they looked into the glass, they saw that the girl was not well. They wanted to go and meet her. So, the first brother asked the others to sit on the magic carpet. They flew and reached the girl’s house.
Which is the Best?
Immediately, the third brother cut his magic lemon and gave the juice to the girl. The girl drank the juice and was well again. All the brothers were very happy. “Now which one of us will you marry? Which is the best?” the brothers asked the girl. Firstly, the girl thanked the brothers. Then, she said, “One brother saw me in his looking-glass that saved my life. His looking-glass is a very useful thing and he will have it forever. Another brother used his magic carpet and brought all three of you here and that, too, saved me. It is also a very helpful thing and he will have it forever. And one of you gave me the lemon juice that made me well again. But he has no lemon now. Whatever he had, he gave it to save me. So, I will marry him.” The other two brothers had agreed to what the girl said.
