The Tortoise and the Geese

It was a hot summer’s day. The scrunching sun was shining in the sky. There had been no rains. All the animals in the forest were worried about the water in the lake. It was drying up slowly. Only the rains could get water to the lake.
In the forest, there lived three friends, a Tortoise and a pair of Geese. The Tortoise said to the Geese, “What will we do if the water dries up? What will we drink? We must look for another lake close by before this lake completely dries up.”
The Geese agreed. One Goose said, “We can fly and look for another lake. But brother Tortoise, you cannot fly. How will you come with us?”
The other Goose suggested, “Let us carry both ends of a stick and fly. The Tortoise can hold the stick with his mouth. This way, he can come with us. But Tortoise, you will have to keep quiet or you will fall down.”
The Tortoise agreed and they set out on their search for water.
As they flew, everyone looked into the sky and laughed at the flying Tortoise. “Look! Look! Have you ever seen a flying Tortoise?” they said.
The Tortoise got anxious. Everyone was making fun of him. He could not bear that; all of them were laughing at him. So, he opened his mouth to say, “I want to get down. Everyone is making fun of me.”

But Alas! As he opened his mouth to speak, he fell down and hit his head to the ground. He died immediately.
The Tortoise lost his life because he was worried about what people thought of him.
