Once, a man had two sons. The man loved the younger son more and was partial towards him. He neglected the elder son. When the sons grew up, the father divided his business between the sons. But here, too, he was partial to the younger son and gave him a larger share. The elder son worked very hard and reaped good rewards whereas the younger son squandered away all the money. He became very poor. The father was very upset. He could not understand why all this had happened. He said to his elder son, “Although I gave him the best of everything yet he has disappointed me. Why?” The elder son said to him, “It is because of you that he has become like this. You always gave him so much that he never realised what it was to work hard.”
