It was evening. Two strangers came to a remote village. They met the chief of the village and asked to spend the night in the village. “Oh, yes, my dear visitors,” said the chief. The chief said that they had a house for strangers in the village and they could sleep there. At the same time he warned the strangers not to snore. They killed the person who would snore. The two strangers went to the house and slept. After a few hours, one of them began snoring, “Vo, vo, vo.” The other stranger heard the snoring. He thought, ‘The people will hear the snoring and kill him.’ He wanted to save his friend. He thought for a while and then began to sing. So, one stranger snored and the other sang, Vo, Vo, vo, Vo! Vo, Vo, vo, Vo! The people could not hear him snore. They listened to the song and started dancing.
The Bag of Money
The whole night one stranger snored and the other sang. In the morning, the strangers went to the chief to bid him goodbye and to thank him for everything. The chief bade goodbye to them and gave them a small bag of money. “I give this money to both of you as we had a good time with you. All of us danced and sang well. Thank you very much.” The strangers left the village. On the way, they began to quarrel over dividing the money. “I must have the bigger share. I snored last night and that is why you sang the song. So, I must have the bigger part of the money.” The other stranger said, “Yes, that is true. But the people would have killed you because you snored. It was my song that saved your life. You must give me the bigger share of the money.” They kept quarrelling and could not decide anything.
