One day, it so happened that a tiger came sniffing around the sage’s hut. It saw the dog and chased it. The dog was frightened out of its wits seeing the huge tiger rushing after it, snarling. The sage, once more taking pity on the poor animal, transformed the dog into a tiger. The mouse was very proud to be a tiger. He roamed around feeling powerful and strong. But in the sage’s mind, it was always a mouse. So, he treated it with the same kindness. People commented that the sage treated the tiger like a mouse always. This upset the tiger very much. ‘As long as the sage is alive, I will be considered a mouse and not a tiger,’ he thought. So he attacked the sage, who promptly turned him back into a mouse.
