On a chilly winter morning, a woodman was returning from the forest. On the way, he saw a snake lying in the snow. The snake was ill. The woodman was a kind man. He picked the snake up, put him inside his coat and took him home. His home was warm and a fire was burning in the fireplace. The man placed the snake near the fireplace. His wife gave him food and medicine. After a while, the snake recovered. Now, the woodman’s children were watching the snake. The snake fascinated them. One of the children came near the snake. The child wanted to stroke the snake. As soon as the child stretched his arm to stroke the snake, the snake took out his fangs to sting the child. The woodman saw this and immediately cut the snake into pieces with his axe.
