There was a furore in the chicken coop one night. The hens fluttered and squawked and the rooster crowed. The dogs began barking. A fox was trying to dig his way into the coop! No one on the farm liked the fox who had once earlier carried away a hen. The farm animals and birds were determined to stop his visits. Victor, the rooster, had been told to give the alarm as soon as the fox was seen. So that night when the fox began digging slyly under the netting around coop, the alarm went up. Victor crowed aloud with the chorus of hens. And the dogs awoke and roused everyone with their barks. There was a sudden rush to the coop. The startled fox was butted by the goats and the sheep, bitten by the dogs and pecked by a large number of ducks and hens! He ran for his life and never dared to return!
