Sophie and her parents lived near a forest. Sophie liked to laugh and play, just like everyone else. She said, “Papa, today I will go to the forest.” But her father warned, “Don’t ever venture near it. The place is enchanted.” Sophie did not say anything. Every day, she would think about the forest. One day, she went there. ‘This place is so nice,’ she thought. As she went on, a tree slowly moved towards her. Then the tree in front of her began to grow claws. Sophie was shocked. When she started to run away from the tree, another tree caught her legs and wouldn’t let her move. “Help me! Papa! Mama! The trees have caught me!” she screamed. Her parents heard her cries. They grabbed a couple of axes and rushed to the spot and cut away the branches. Sophie promised her parents never to disobey them.
