Penny went to the well every day to fetch water and didn’t find anything extraordinary there. But one morning, she found a gnome sitting on the wall. “Don’t sit there,” she said, “It’s dangerous. You may fall!” “Oh, no, I won’t!” replied the gnome, “I live in the well! I’ve seen you every day. And you always throw some crumbs for the little creatures inside. You are a kind girl, so I am going to do something special for you!” There was a sudden crack! The gnome had turned into a handsome young prince. “I’m Ivan, the Prince of the Waters and came looking for a bride who was kind to all water creatures! Will you marry me?” Penny nodded happily and the Prince took her away through the well into his land far away! They were married and Princess Penny lived happily with Prince Ivan.
