The Well

On his way to the Bath of Badgard, Hatim came to a city. There, he saw numerous men gathered around the mouth of a well. When he asked them the reason, one of them said to him, “Three days back, the chief magistrate’s son fell into the well. We are waiting for him or his body to appear. We do not know if he is alive or dead. As none of us know how to swim, we are scared to step into the well.” Hatim’s heart melted, when he witnessed the sorrow of the magistrate and his wife. He dived into the well. When he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see a beautiful garden with flowers of all colours instead of water. There, upon a golden thrown, sat a fairy with a boy who looked exactly like the magistrate’s son that had been described to him. He had found the drowned boy!
