The Whistling Monster

Mira and Alan were going on a ski-trip to the mountains. They were very excited. “Isn’t it thrilling that we will be seeing the snow for the first time in life?” exclaimed Mira. Alan was looking forward to ski on the snowy mountains. Leaving their luggage in their hotel room, they left immediately for the slopes. But when they reached the skiing area, they were disappointed to see that the slopes had been closed for skiing! The guide told them that the snow had melted down in many places on the slope. He said, “Until it snows again, the mountain slopes will be dangerous for skiing. Once it snows, then everyone could ski again.”

Both Alan and Mira were sad. So, they decided to take a walk, on the mountains. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly. Walking around, suddenly, they saw a lake which was hidden behind the trees. “It looks like a beautiful picture postcard!” exclaimed Alan joyfully and excitedly. “Let’s rest here for a while,” suggested Mira. They lay down on the grassy banks of the lake and soon fell asleep. They were woken up by a soft whistling noise. Not thinking much about it, both decided to head back to the hotel. They were hungry. However, the whistling followed. Wherever they went, it followed. They stopped; the whistling also stopped. They started moving; the whistling started again. In order to find the cause, Alan and Mira decided to follow the whistling. Hiding behind the bushes, just near where they had been, was a huge one-eyed green monster with the biggest teeth they had ever seen! Scared, Alan and Mira just stared at him. They knew running away was impossible. He was big and would soon catch them. They had to find a way to escape or kill it! Suddenly, both had an idea! Alan cautiously moved to the right side of the monster and Mira on the left side. Confused, the monster turned from one side to the other. Counting to three loudly, both Alan and Mira ran towards the monster and started hitting him with all their strength. The monster was big and slow. He was not fast enough to turn and catch both the kids. Alan and Mira kept hitting him wherever they could. Soon, tired and injured, the whistling monster yelled in pain and ran. Relieved, Alan and Mira returned to their hotel to eat a well-deserved hearty meal.
