Once, a monk lived in a forest. One day, he visited a kingdom for alms. King Brahmadatta invited him to stay in the royal garden. The monk lived there for sixteen years. One day, King Brahmadatta had to go out. The queen had to take care of her husband’s responsibilities in his absence. She was very beautiful. As soon as the monk saw her, he fell in love with her. When the king returned, the monk told the king about his wish to marry the queen. The king was very wise, so he sent the queen to serve the monk. When she reached the garden, the queen made the monk work like a slave. She also made him clean the entire garden. The monk soon realised his mistake and apologised to the king. Thereafter, he went back to the forest.
Moral: Never wish for wrong things.
