The Wise Owl

Once, there lived a wise Owl. He had learnt many lessons in his life. He wanted to share them with all the other birds. He wanted all the birds to be safe and healthy.
One day, he decided to call all the birds in the forest around a tree. Once all the birds came together, he said, “Dear friends. I have called you here for something important. I want to share some important lessons with you. I want all the birds in the forest to be safe and sound.”
The Owl continued, “Whenever you see oak seeds sprouting, do not let them grow. Pull them out of the ground. These seeds produce a poison that helps a hunter capture all the birds.”
All the birds looked surprised. How could the Owl know about this?
The Owl then said, “Please, pluck the flaxseeds as well. Hunters are clever. They make nets out of flaxseeds and use them to trap us.”
All the birds looked at the Owl and started laughing. “How would you know all this? You are making it all up,” said one of the birds. All the birds flew away. The Owl yelled, “Be careful; I can see a hunter coming to the forest.”
The hunter came and took away many birds. He attracted the birds with the smell of sweet poison and then trapped them in the net. He took them to the town to sell them.

All the birds in the forest were sad. They all went to the Owl and apologised for their behaviour. They asked the Owl for advice and did as the Owl said. All the birds in the forest were safe and lived a joyous life.
