A wolf had been starving for many days. He was sick and it was difficult for him to hunt his prey.
One day, he spied a sheep standing at the other side of the stream. ‘Wow! what a delicious meal for me,’ the wolf thought and said to the sheep, “My dear sheep! Could you please bring me a little water from the stream? I am very ill today. If only I could get a little water to drink, I shall be able to manage my meals myself.”
“My dear wolf!” replied the sheep, “If only I had offered you a little water to drink, you would already have managed your meals.”
Saying so, the sheep darted away in the opposite direction.
Moral : Beware of flatterers.
