Those persons who desire to be successful and aspire for a meaningful life, will have to seek the assistance of positive thinking. Hatred breeds contempt; therefore, we should adopt a positive way of thinking rather than negative thinking. Whatsoever we are today, is the result of our previous thinking. Our main thoughts become the images of truth and reveal themselves in front of us. It is rightly said that face is the mirror of mind. Our faces bear the expression of our thoughts. There is a clear-cut demarcation of line of thoughts when we observe the eyes of a cow and a lion.
VISION OF BEAUTY
From the submission of our desire springs the virtue of resignation, from the freedom of our thoughts springs the whole world of art and philosophy and the vision of beauty is possible to only unfettered. Contemplation to thought is not weighed by eager wishes and thus freedom comes to those who no longer ask of life that it shall yield them any of those personal goods that are subject to mutation of time.
Impression of Thoughts
Whatsoever we may think, the same is reflected in our conversation. As we think, so shall we speak. We hear our own thought process initially and subsequently the same creates an impact on us. It is a psychological fact that positive thoughts beget positivity, while negative thoughts bring negative thoughts. It has been rightly pointed out that a thief can give up stealing but cannot leave crookedness. Keeping a view of the adversities of society, we should never give up the path of truth.
Sant Kabir has expressed as follows-
Kabira Man to Ek Hai, Bhave Tahan Lagaye
Bhave Guru Ke Bhakti Kar, Bhave Vishay Kamaya.
Which means,
You have only one heart whose services may either be utilized in praise of the Almighty/Guru, or the same heart may be diverted towards the worldly affairs.
“Everyone should be self-confident. One should trust his courage and valour, and design his plans according to his capabilities and capital and resources. Often planning based on others’ help leads to disappointment and failures. No doubt the help is available, but it is reserved for those people who have the courage, strength and are fearless in their outlook. People are very much impressed by these personalities, who are offered help without being asked.”
—Sri Ram Sharma Acharya
It is a psychological fact that to attract any object one has to think about the same continuously. Every object has a mirror image effect, i.e. it reflects its own image. Thus it concludes that our achievements are the outcome of our thoughts. In case a person wishes to be a musician or an artists, he should continuously keep his thoughts on these lines and should keep the company of the experts in these subjects. He should be in touch with the latest literature, magazines and publications on these subjects. No negative thoughts should be allowed to creep up in his mind. A person with inferiority complex always remains poor and inferior.
“ Do not fear anyone, be courageous,
Leave laziness and be hard-working
Do not fear obstacles, be fearless.”
If you wish to live happily, give up the sorrowful thoughts and if you wish to be a rich man, get rid of the thoughts of poverty. You should avoid coming in contact of negative thoughts which bring you down. These thoughts act as a barrier in your path to success. Disappointments should be shed and optimistic thoughts should always be welcomed. Soon you will observe that your dreams are turning into a reality.
A Victory of Heart
Alexander the Great is a well-known figure in the annals of history who conquered many kingdoms and made slaves various kings and rulers around the world. One day he came across a Saint sitting under the shadow of a tree, who was happily singing at the top of his voice. Alexander asked him, ‘Who are you? The Saint replied, “I am the king of the world.” Alexander was amazed at hearing the reply and thought that in spite of conquering so many kings and kingdoms, he was unable to call himself the king of the world. However, gaining some courage he again asked the Saint to show his worldly possessions, in order to match his claim. The Saint smiled and said that he had conquered his mind and heart and the person who has done so, has conquered the world. So he desires nothing else. Saying so, he went back to his singing merrily. Alexander was taken aback and watched the hermit thoughtfully.
Mental Emotions
Different types of thoughts keep arising on our mental platform which are responsible for our behaviour, thoughts, working patterns and lifestyles. There are two kinds of emotions-
(i) Positive emotions and (ii) Negative emotions.
Negative thoughts and depressions incorporate jealousy, hate, tension, sorrows, fears, inferiority complex, anger, insecurity, violence, greed, malignance, allurement, haughtiness, extravagant acquisitions, crimes, bad-mouthing, laziness, exploitation, deceitfulness, conspiracy, etc. whereas positive and optimistic thoughts lead us on the path of peace, affection, companionship, love, pleasure, happiness, self-confidence, belief in God, sacrifice, charities, religiousness, soft-spokenness, praiseworthiness, to surrender, multiplicity of values, utilizing time properly and enthusiasm. Now the question arises to how the positive thought process can be developed so that our mental emotions may remain positive for ever. For that, we should keep our thoughts pure and simple. Our positive thoughts are the most valuable treasure to be nourished which would play an important role in making and placing ourselves impressive in the society. Positive emotions enlighten our path to success.
Importance Of Ideas
To understand the different areas of life, one has to understand the importance of positive thoughts. After all, what is this thought process? We always look forward to bright future, filled with pleasures, wealth and peace. All these are our thoughts only. Whatever attitude we develop is exclusively based on our thoughts only. In short, our past, present and future is based entirely on our thought process only. Our relation with different people of the society itself reflects our thoughts making us understand the demarcation between the good and the bad people. The desire to create friendship among the people, the wish to be successful, all are controlled by the thought process. To lead a prosperous life or to live in poverty is not decided by this society or the world but is directed by our thought process. Our entire activities and our dreams, all revolve around our thought processes only.
The importance of thoughts has been proved in the vedas too.
Paktra Sathan Deva, Hastu Janeeth Matyryum
up Daayu Cha Daayu, Vasaav: (Rigveda-8/18-15)
In other words, where there are pious thoughts God exists there. Who is God? The presence of mystic powers in a human body is God. Both the good and the evil exist simultaneously in the human mind. The soul observes and knows both these elements. Our thinking controls our conditions.
Devi Sampat Vimokshaya, Nivdvayasuri Matta:
In case the man wants his soul to progress and his personality to develop, he should adopt pure thoughts and simple living to generate a pure life. The deities reside in purity and from here arises progress and growth.
According to Swate Martin,”You win over your destiny with your thoughts. If you understand that the destiny of man is created by a mere idea then you will not have to take a sword in your hand. As the idea is, so shall the result be.”
Our lifestyle should be governed by great thoughts and good habits. We should always be making in efforts and be alert that bad habits and ill-thoughts do not affect our mind. We have to protect ourselves from these ideas that oppose creativity and constructive efforts. When we sow a healthy seed, manure and water it, and if the season remains good, a healthy sapling grows and all the stages of plant life till it gives fruit proceed normally. The possibility of non-germination or dying-up of the sapling arises, only when the soil is non-fertile or the weather is unfavourable or the sampling does not receive sufficient sunlight and water. Similarly, if a person’s thoughts are weighed down by non-performance, unhealthy desire, lack of will power, then the excitement to do the work diminishes and there is lack of courage and self-confidence leading to that person becoming listless and restless. If our mind follows a pure and truthful path, we are not affected by the wrong opinions of others.
People often give wrong advice. If your mind is not well read and well educated then you would be easily misled and deviated from your goals. Even if you are forced to listen to bad ideas but you are determined not to let their ill-effects get imprinted on your mind then even while you are present in bad environment you would be able to protect yourself from these evil thoughts. If you are determined to ignore such harmful advice then definitely you can overcome their effects. On the contrary, if you pay heed to the evil and polluted thoughts and act upon them, your mind will remain excited and unsettled. Whereas others are able to mislead you easily and deviate you from your goals. In such conditions, you yourself are responsible for destroying your whole life.
The people who pay attention to these evil wrong ideas get excited by them and such people definitely get astray from their goals. In case we take an oath and keep repeating our aims, reiterate the achieving of our goals, only then can we remain steadfast on our chosen path. Slowly and steadily working towards that goal would become a part of our attitude and nature, then and only then, the whole of our life-effort will be diverted to achieving these goals and we can put in all our powers and capabilities in the fulfilment of our aims. Due to this continuous effort there will arise such tremendous capabilities and opportunities which would submerge all the hurdles that seperate us from our aims and we would find ourselves at the pinnacle of achievement.
We and our Thoughts
It is our belief that thoughts exist only in our mind but in fact it is not so. Thoughts are omnipresent; they exist in ourselves, in our society, the place we were born and from the place where we inherited our culture and values. In fact, our birth has taken place amidst of thoughts only. Whosoever we are today is due to our thinking only.
In fact, who are we? We are nothing but just an image and by-product of the thoughts of our society. Ralph Faldo Emerson has rightly said, “ There is nothing good or bad on this earth; only our thinking makes it so.” Whereas in the opinion of Norman Vincent Paul, “By changing our thoughts, we can change our lives.”
Influential, successful, healthy and happy persons use positive thoughts for thinking which are filled with energy. It has now been medically proved that people with positive thinking have a hormone named ‘endorphins’ in excess in their brains. Similarly, when our human mind is in a state of peace then the hormone named ‘Neuropeptide’ makes us experience a natural mental happiness. Sheldon Cohen, Carnegie Mellon, University has proved with her research work that the pessimistic people have a lower immunity towards diseases and are prone to deadly diseases like AIDS. Thus make your thoughts creative and optimistic and the world will be yours.
The optimistic people are more successful, popular and have an impressive personality than the other people. Their impression is such that the people are eager to help them. The most complicated and difficult works also get completed with little efforts. I myself have seen it happen. Generally, everyone should know that he has some unique quality, which can help him to take pride in himself and stand apart in a normal crowd. It would not be out of context to say that everyone has a unique identity because each one of us has different thoughts, ideas, views about a particular thing.
A person is able to have maturity in thoughts, after he has fully developed a complete thought-process. The mental thinking simultaneously develops within the mind and heart of a person. These thoughts lead to the overall development of a person’s attitude and nature, create literature and scientific inventions. Creativity and invention has a concrete and direct link with the human progress and such inventors and discoverers are the unique achievements of mankind. And it may be the cause why such great persons have to sacrifice their life for the pleasure of mankind. But have we ever thought about it? What qualities these great personalities possessed, with the help of which they could make such great inventions and discoveries and perform hazardous tasks? No discovery or invention was performed by an individual personality. These traits are not only applicable to great personalities that no two discoverers were ever alike, but also point out the fact that there is no similarity of thoughts even between two ordinary people. This points out clearly that even an ordinary person posseses certain special qualities.
Even scientists have proved that the hair composition of one person does not match with the other on this earth. Psychologists also agree to the fact that physical appearance of any two persons may possibly be alike, but their thoughts and thinking patterns can never be alike. This is probably the reason why a Scientist and a Philosopher usually make unique discourses and creations.
Principles of Truth
Those people who do not have a feeling of kindness and pity, who are jealous always, who find excuses to pick up fights, who keep bad eyes on the property and wives of others, who are jealous of seeing his near and dear progressing, who are not happy on seeing the happiness of blood relations, who become proud and haughty on receiving small riches, who can neither live peacefully nor let others live in peace, such wicked-natured bad persons are always the most unfortunate and infamous and live in misery.
