Once, a king wanted to know the answers to the three questions, ‘What are the most important time, important people and important thing to do?’ The king visited a monk to seek the answers. The monk was busy digging the ground and ignored his questions. The king took the spade from the monk and started digging. After some time, a wounded man came running towards them. The king immediately bandaged him and took care of him. The man said, “Sir, I planned to kill you and your bodyguards wounded me. You have been kind to me, a stranger. I am very ashamed to have planned to hurt such a kind man!” The monk overheard them and said, “King, you attended to the man at the most important time and he was the most important man. What you did for him was the most important thing, because of which you have made a friend out of your enemy.”
Moral: Always act in the present.
