One evening, a warrior was resting in his tent. The warrior had to fight in a battle the next morning. He found it very difficult to fall asleep, as he was worried. He knew that the enemy was very strong and feared that he would be defeated. Troubled, the warrior got up and went to the monk. The monk asked, “What brings you here?” The warrior replied, “It is an important battle tomorrow. I fear I will not be able to defend the kingdom.” The monk understood the warrior’s fears. He said, “Tomorrow is tomorrow. Today is today. The only moment of concern is now. So, rest and think about tomorrow’s battle when you are present in that moment.” Taking a long deep breath, the warrior became peaceful and slept well. The next morning, he fought bravely and won the battle.
Moral: Don’t let the worries of tomorrow affect today.
