You will need:
- Vanilla essence
- Apple
- Cotton ball
- Blindfold
It’s time to befool your tongue with this
simple experiment.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blindfold a friend and give him a slice of apple. Ask him to eat it.
- Next, take a few drops of vanilla essence on a cotton ball and hold it as close to his nose as possible, without actually touching it to his nose.
- While holding the cotton ball near his nose, give him another slice of apple and ask him to take a bite of it while smelling the cotton ball at the same time.
- What does the apple taste like?
RESULT
The second bite of apple will taste like vanilla. This is because our taste buds only identify sweet, sour, salty or bitter. Whereas the other ‘flavours’ or sensations we feel, are actually more because of our sense of smell than taste.
