The Trevi Fountain is a travertine stone fountain built at a junction of three roads in Rome, Italy, in 1762. One of the most notable fountains in the world, the Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque Fountain in Rome. The elaborate fountain depicts a scene where the Roman virgin girl, ‘Trivia’ leads thirsty Roman soldiers 13 km from the city to a source of pure water. Neptune on a chariot pulled by two horses, is set in the central niche. The entire fountain is 26.3 metres high and 49.15 metres wide.
Amazing Fact: The Trevi Fountain was financed by the money earned by reintroducing the lotto in Rome, making it one of the least expensive fountains.
