William’s family loved music. His sister and parents were professional musicians. They had learnt how to play music from a very talented musician, Mr. Nicolson. William also liked music and was quite talented. He had been learning to play the piano for a year. One day, William was practising his piano when suddenly some keys stopped working. He was very upset because he was supposed to play in a school concert, next week. “I need to practise a lot,” he complained to his mother. Mr. Nicolson was visiting them that evening. “Oh, do give us a performance,” pleaded William’s mother. William exclaimed, “But the piano is broken.” Mr. Nicolson smiled and sat down on the chair. He played the piano with such skill that it sounded melodious even with broken keys! William realised that true talent means being able to perform even in the most difficult circumstances.
