Trumpet

Amongst the oldest musical instruments, trumpets have one of the highest ranges. The oldest trumpet originated back in the 15th century and is said to be found in the tomb of King Tutankhanem. They were mainly made of brass which were bent twice into a rectangular shape with round edges. They did not have any valves.

The modern form of the trumpet was discovered by Friedrich Blumel and Heinrich Stolzel and it used the concept of including box valves as manufactured by W. Schuster. There are various types of trumpets such as A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F and G. The most common type is Bb. The major techniques of playing the trumpets are fingering or extended technique.

There are various books that show instructions and methods to play the trumpet. One of the most popular such books is Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet written by Jean-Baptiste Arban. The person who plays the trumpet is either called the trumpet player or the trumpeter.
