Gideon ordered his three hundred men to follow his instructions. He distributed his army into three parts, and asked them to follow his orders strictly. As per the plan, his men had to carry an earthenware jar, a torch of oiled wood, and a trumpet that was made up of a ram’s horn. The army believed in him and God. The light torch was placed inside the jar and they reached silently near the camp. Most of the army men were sleeping, and the rest were busy in other tasks. On his signal the men blew the trumpet and screamed loud. Also, they took off the earthenware from the candle and made sudden attack on the army. This created confusion among the sleeping army who ran off, thinking that there were thousands of armies. As God had promised, the Midianites were defeated without any problem.
