One day, a cock-sparrow was returning home after a long journey when he saw a long strip of rag lying on the road. The cock-sparrow thought it could be useful for the nest he was building. So he swooped down to pick the rag up, but the wind blew it around his wings and he fell down in the dust. He was up again and seized the rag from both ends. He tried to fly again, but was further entangled by the rag. Every time he tried to carry the rag, he ended up in a difficult situation. Then he shook himself loose and looked at the rag. He wondered, ‘What am I supposed to do with this rag now? Will I be able to take it home?’ Then, he thought for a while. Suddenly, he got an idea! He rolled the rag into a neat little ball, grabbed it by one loose end and flew away successfully.
