Two Friends

Two Friends

Once, there were two friends—one was a lion and another was a boar. They used to live together. One day, it was a sunny hot day. Both the friends had a palatable lunch of an ox. They ate with their satisfaction and they felt thirsty, so they went in search of water. After a long search, they came to a watering hole. The water looked refreshing. The lion wanted to drink from the watering hole first and so did the boar. They started to argue. Soon, both the animals started to fight and the quarrel turned into a violent fight. Though both were severely wounded yet they continued fighting. After some time, the animals stopped to catch their breath.

That was when they heard two vultures talking, “Let us wait for a little while more. Both these animals will kill each other in this fight. Then we can eat them up!” The lion and the boar realized how useless their fight was. They at once made up saying, “It is better for us to become friends rather than be eaten up by vultures.”
