Two Sisters who were Jealous of their Younger Sister

Sultan Khusrau Shah of Persia had the habit of going about town incognito to see how his subjects lived. One day, he overheard a conversation among three sisters. While the first and second sisters expressed their desire to marry the baker, the youngest one willed to become the wife of the Sultan himself.

The next day the Sultan made their wishes true and married the youngest sister to their utter surprise. The two elder sisters became envious of their sister, who had then become the Sultana, and planned to take revenge. They threw her newly born two sons and a daughter into a river on a cradle.

When an official of the Sultan saw the babies floating on a cradle, he brought them home and took good care of them. He named them Bahman, Parvez and Parizade. When he died, all three continued to live there. An old pious woman advised Parizade to procure a talking bird, singing tree and golden water.

A dervish guided her youngest brother the way to bring all the three. Unfortunately, not following the dervish’s advice, the two sisters turned him into a black stone and the same fate befell onto his brother too who went after him.
