After his father’s death, Sheikh Chilli had to be sent to the market to get things for home. One day, he was sent to get milk for 50 paise. When Sheikh reached the market, he saw that the shopkeeper was stretching his hands wide apart while pouring the milk from one pot to the other. Sheikh thought that it must be some way of measuring milk. But actually, the shopkeeper was cooling the milk in that manner. When asked by the shopkeeper what he wanted, Sheikh told him that he had come to get milk. “How much?” asked the shopkeeper. Sheikh was confused. He wondered how he should describe the amount of milk to the shopkeeper, so he stood quietly for a while. The shopkeeper got irritated and asked him to speak up. Sheikh thought that the shopkeeper was measuring the milk in yards and feet, so he said, “I would like to have two yards of milk.” Upon hearing this, everyone standing at the shop started laughing.
