Uffizi Gallery

Uffizi-Gallery

Uffizi is a world-renowned art museum that displays famous works from the Renaissance period. The Uffizi Gallery is located in the Tuscany region in Firenze, Italy. This Gallery was founded in 1581.

Why it is special: Initially the building was created to accommodate Florentine Magistrates and was hence named Uffizi, meaning ‘Offices’. Its long narrow inner courtyard is considered the first regularized streetscape of Europe. What started out as an administrative building, was gradually converted into a place for art exhibits, paintings and sculptures. Famous works including those of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo are also displayed at this Gallery.
