Long ago, there lived a farmer. He had a big leafy tree that was surrounded by a bountiful, year-round vegetable garden. The farmer was unaware of the fact that the tree and the vegetable patch hated each other. The tree prevented sunlight from reaching the vegetables while the vegetables drank most of the water before it could reach the tree. This was the reason why the patch and the tree could not stand each other. The bitterness between the two kept on increasing. Finally one day, the vegetables absorbed all the water. On his part, the tree snatched away the shade. Both the vegetables and the tree started drying up. To make things worse, the gardener too stopped watering the patch. One wise vegetable plant told them that the gardener would uproot all of them and plant new plants if they did not cooperate with one another and continued to fight. Now, the vegetables and the tree realised that it was better to work together and live in harmony.
