Once upon a time, there was a man named Martin who lived in a hut on a hill. He wanted to make some soup, but all he had that day was water. He thought, ‘I shall take this pot of water down the hill and then I will be able to make some soup.’ So, Martin walked down the hill. He lit a fire with wood and soon the water boiled. A group of boys walked past. They said, “Are you making soup? We are hungry. Can we have some?” Martin was smart; he said, “You can but you have to bring something to put in it.” Soon, the boys came back with a basket of vegetables. They put them in the pot. Martin made the fire grow and the soup boiled. It smelled good. When it was done, he gave the boys a bowl of soup each and he drank the rest. ‘This is the best soup I have ever had,’ thought Martin.
