The Valley of the Kings is a Valley in Egypt where tombs were constructed for Pharaohs and powerful nobles. The Valley is located in Egypt, Africa. The Valley was filled with tombs over a period of 500 years, from the 16th to the 11th century BC.
Why it is special: The Valley of the Kings is a trove of ancient artifacts and history. Till date, 63 tombs have been discovered in the Valley. The Valley is divided into two parts, the East Valley and the West Valley. Standing on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Thebes, the Valley contains the tombs of royalty and nobles from Egypt’s New Kingdom. The tombs are richly decorated with ancient Egyptian mythological scenes and abundant antiquities, depicting the wealth and opulence of the Pharaohs.
